Dr. Robert E. Johnson Sr., Bishop

Dr. Johnson is the Overseer and Administrator of the New Jerusalem Praise Tabernacle in the Westport area of Baltimore City where his wife, Overseer Jacqueline Faye Saunders-Johnson is the pastor. He is an ordained minister and Bishop in the United Church of Jesus Christ (Apostolic) where the late great Apostle Monroe Saunders, Sr. was the chief prelate and Bishop Monroe R. Saunders Jr. is the presiding Bishop. He is also the church historian of The United Church. Bishop Johnson was born September 9, 1947, in Washington, D.C. He is the only child born to the late Elder John E. Johnson and Mother Desiree Johnson. He has been married to Pastor Jacqueline Johnson for the past 54 years (She is the eldest daughter of Bishop Monroe R. Saunders Sr. and Mother Alberta Saunders). They have three children; Keturah Desiree (Ebin), Katherine Faye, and Robert Jr. (Leslie) Bishop and Pastor now have five lovely grandchildren - Nicholas, Robert, Amaya, Kamryn and Kennedy. Bishop Johnson received his high school education in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1969. In 1976, he received his M.S. degree from Morgan State University in Black History. In 2004 he received his M.S. in Administration and Supervision from Johns Hopkins University. In 2009 he received his Doctorate in Religious Education from Outreach Bible College & Seminary in Fayetteville, NC. Bishop Johnson served in the Baltimore City Public Schools for over 38 years. He also taught at Coppin State University, Anne Arundel and Carroll County Community Colleges. He has been featured in Who's Who in American Education and on the cover of the Afro-American newspaper for his accomplishments. In the United Church of Jesus Christ (Apostolic), Bishop Johnson is the church historian and teacher. He is a counselor, consultant on Biblical Studies, and conducts seminars and workshops on Church History. He has served in many capacities as a member of the Board of Bishops. He has pastored in Florida, Glen Burnie, MD, and is currently working with his wife at New Jerusalem Praise Tabernacle, in the Westport area, where THE POWER IS IN THE LOVE and also served as the diocesan Bishop of the 2nd Episcopal Diocese (New Jersey and Pennsylvania). Bishop Johnson is an anointed man of God, who preaches and teaches the Word of God without controversy or compromise.

Jacqueline Faye Saunders-Johnson, the eldest daughter to the late Chief Apostle, Dr. Monroe R.

Saunders Sr. and Mother Alberta B. Saunders - founders of the United Church of Jesus Christ, Apostolic, comes from a religious family having been born the second in line of six children (3 sisters and 2 brothers).

She is the product of the Baltimore City Public School System having graduated with honors from Forest Park Senior High School and from Morgan State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education. Pastor Jackie (as she is affectionately called) has pursued graduate coursework from the College of Notre Dame, Baltimore, MD; Loyola University Pastoral Care Program, Columbia, MD; and the Masters

International School of Divinity, Indiana. Pastor Jackie married Bishop Robert E. Johnson, Sr. on

December 27, 1969 and from this union has come 3 wonderful children: Keturah Desiree (Ebin), Katherine Faye, and Robert Johnson, Jr., Esquire (Leslie). She is the proud grandmother of 5 wonderful

grandchildren: Nicholas, Robert Monroe, Kennedy, Amaya, and Kamryn.

IIn the secular world, Pastor Jackie has taught for a number of years in the Baltimore City Public School System as a music teacher. She ended her teaching career by retiring from the St. Mark Catholic School in Catonsville, MD in June, 2012, after serving as the vocal music teacher and the choir director for 14 years.

n the church, Pastor Jackie has served as the National Minister of Music for the United Church for many years. She has given concerts across this country, Europe, Canada, and Jamaica. It was in 1977 that she first heard the call to expand her ministry beyond the musical scales. In 1985, she was consecrated as an

evangelist and in 1996, she was elevated to be an ordained Elder and became the co-pastor with her husband of the New Jerusalem Praise Tabernacle (formerly known as New Jerusalem Deliverance Temple) where The Power is in the Love and the Deliverance is in your Praise. Upon the recommendation of her

husband, Bishop Robert E. Johnson, Sr., Pastor Jackie was consecrated and installed as the Pastor of New Jerusalem Praise Tabernacle in July, 2002. This anointed woman of God is chosen and sent by God

to be a weapon against satan. She is a woman full of the Holy Ghost and Power that the Lord is using in these last days. She has the gift of laying on of hands and is known for her deliverance ministry and work at the altar. She is well qualified to preach and teach the Word of God, for she has a praying spirit

and will yield herself to the Lord. She has been a blessing to the United Church worldwide, her family, her local church, community, and the body of Christ.  Her foremost prayer is found in the words of the song:

“Jesus use me, and Oh Lord don’t refuse me.- For surely there’s a work that I must do. And even though it’s humble, Lord help my will to crumble - And though the cost be great I’ll work for you!
